Thoughts

hey all ,

been thinking should i update or not .. and if am going to update, update with what ??I dont have real topic to update with but i have a collection of thoughts that I want to share them with you guys ..

First Thought ,,

1- memory ..

living in kuwait .. living in kuwait was really diffrent than living in oman .. diffrent social life .. specially that am livng there with a family and here living by my self .. and that there so many places you can go to in kuwait ..

seems kuwait is better right ?? where the family and the social life and all the big malls ..

but I really feel inlove with Oman .. yeah Muscat is like a dead city no activity at all after 12 clock am but i am changing too .. am not that active person who likes to go to busy places i've changed as i changed the cities and thats wierd ..

2-Omanization ,,,

oh yes I think , I have all the right to talk about Oman as i consider it my home ..

What do you think about Omanization do you think it is working ? am not talk about the companies thing and pertrolium companies am talking about those small markets and supermarkets do you think it is good idea that omanies work there ?
do you know many of those shops are owned byt indian and they closed becouse they could afford paying a salary for omani .. and they were offended that they own this shop so why they should hire some one to treat them like a servant !!

and hey think about the next step Omanies gonna work in barbers and Saloons ..

am not insulting any one am not saying that all of them are not good .. but ..Deja vu any one ??
why they dont do it in steps ?did those ppl recieved any type of training .. ?? ? I doubt it ..

3- Last thought ..

I was in a meeting today .. for 3 hours ... they were discussing million things then accepted them then refuse them again ..I hate meetings .. I didnt have launch becouse of this silly meeting and am really hungry while am typing this entry .. actualy a freind is wating for me to finish so we could go to city center ..

so see ya later i wont kept him waiting for so long :)

Tip of the day : if you dont feel like to update .. Dont because you will just wright silly things and you will call them thoughts :)

I think that the place you reside in with your family makes all the difference. Thats why you like Kuwait , because your loved ones are there.
About Omanization , everything has its advantages and disadvantages. Lets hope this step will bring more good than bad.

Go eat , instead of chatting online :P

ah long time! hii..

I like those thoughts you think are silly. bil3aks they are informative, we get to know what you think about things. so keep it up and stop saying they are not all that and you have nothing...etc that is silly not what you actually think.

Omanization: no comment am still frech in here and i got my first FROWN yesterday in this small baqala, and i was like mashallah more to come but i hope not all.

about Kuwait, nice to know that you love oman, thats wonderful. andi agree we have nothing in here but Oman is just ........ (no words to describe it)

Only in Oman:

- The government sends Omanis to India to learn to become barbers.

- The government pays the big FMCG suppliers like Mutrah Cold Stores, and for some weird reason Bahwan Cybertek, to teach Omanis how to run grocery stores.

- The government pays institutes to teach courses for petrol station attendants.

Now I ask you did the Indian who came to Oman and opened a grocery store get any professional training in India about how to run a grocery shop? Did the Indian who pumps your gas in the station get professional training in how to pump gas? You put the nozzle in the tank opening and you pull the lever. Duh!

Omanization is a rip-off. It's an excuse for the government to construct statistics to show the ruler that they're doing what they can to get jobs for Omanis. It's an excuse for people who run the institutes to rip the government off and make a quick buck (in full knowledge of the government. It's excuse for FMCG companies to train Omanis and finance their grocery shops and sign long term contracts to supply them at prices higher than what the Indians used to pay.

Najah Wellllllcome back :) nice to see you around commenting ,ny one frown at you dont buy from him next time :)

Muscati welcome to my blog :)

what i ment by training is not only the formal training those exap recieved their training by being assitant in the shop under supervision of the expert expat or some one old in the buisness .. so it should be like this omanies shlould be their assitance until they know the secrets of the job then they could be the one who run the shop by them self ..

Najah :) you dont need them there will some one filling the tank for you its not america :)

thanks allo for replying see ya later :)

You know why they need to train a gas station attendant? Because the only Omanis willing to work in the heat for 80 rials a month are ones who don't even have a thanawiya 3ama diploma. By law anyone with thanawiya has to be paid 120 as salary. Gas stations refuse to pay that much. So the government came up with this scam. The problem is these school drop outs often can't even count straight. So how can they calculate how much change to give you back? Simple: pay an institute to train them for six months and teach them simple maths skills, some basic english, and how to pump gas.

How many gas stations are there in Oman? Probably around 400. So this whole scheme wouldn't end up employing more than say 1200 or 1500 Omanis, but the cost of training them is so high that it doesn't make any sense at all!

This a very hard debate...

Maybe it true what is happening..
Maybe it does provide a job..I recall when my office we were looking for a driver an office boy..I had few Omanai national who were willing to take up the job and do the graden job...they told me that they could not find any job...
Maybe these jobs can not accomodate huge number but still for those who do not seem to get job it can feed house with the salary...

I have seen number of Omani at Petrol Station who seem to be clever and I wish that they life does not end over there only filling Gas..that there is night school where they can obtain there high education...I just wish that night schools are provided to them so their life does be only there filling gas..Yeah school drop out but maybe situation harder beyond lead them at that place and they do deserve to be guided..

Another thing It really makes angry..is an attitude of people that like heard at one time "Omani at supermarket they can not do the job very well" or an instance at restuarnt where foreigners complain about hiring Omanies and blame that the business is slow cause of the work of Omani staff is not upto the service as Indian national or any other nationality...

Well it is sad for any expat who worked probably 10 years in Oman then suddenly to leave and the business have been taken over by Omanies but is not an opportunty for Omani to have a small scale business for instance grocery shop or any other..

By the way...Im not paid by the Goverment to say all this LOL
